At OrthoGrace Dental, your complete comfort and well-being are important to us.
We love getting to know our patients and building trusting relationships. If you ever do need a procedure like oral surgery, you can take comfort knowing that we are here to support and encourage you every step of the way.
Dr. Joe Medellin has a warm and gentle manner and knows what it takes to keep our oral surgery patients comfortable. He will evaluate your needs and show you why treatment is necessary. If you are nervous and have concerns, we encourage you to share them with us so we can adjust your treatment accordingly.
We are also pleased to offer the expertise of an in-office periodontist who assists us with implant and gum surgeries. It’s good to know that you can have all your needs met at one convenient location!
Tooth Extraction – We want to do everything possible to preserve your teeth, and we never recommend extraction unless we have exhausted all other options. A tooth may need to be removed to relieve extreme discomfort and protect your overall oral health. We may also need to remove a tooth to prepare for orthodontic treatment or dentures placement.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction – Your wisdom teeth are the molars farthest back in your mouth and usually appear in your late teens or early twenties. They are a throwback to ancient times and no longer serve any real purpose. In fact, because wisdom teeth are so hard to reach, they are difficult to clean properly, which puts them at risk for decay and gum disease. Wisdom teeth can also cause crowding, so we usually recommend removal to protect your oral health.
Gum Surgery – In the case of advanced periodontal disease, we may determine that gum surgery is the only way we can protect the health of your gums and other structures that support your teeth. Our in-office periodontist has the experience and expertise to ensure that your procedure is comfortable and that we achieve the best possible outcome.
Dental Implant Surgery – Dental implants are a state-of-the-art solution to replace missing teeth. The foundation of an implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed in your jaw by either Dr. Medellin or our periodontist. In some cases, we may also recommend bone grafting or a sinus lift to ensure the success of your implant. Both procedures can be performed right here in our Northridge dental office.
Our team is sensitive to the fact that facing oral surgery can be a bit overwhelming, and we will go out of our way to make sure you have the most comfortable experience possible. We offer comforting amenities like warm blankets, pillows, and in-room entertainment to put you at ease so you can relax and get the critical care you need.
If you suspect you may need oral surgery, please call OrthoGrace Dental. If you are in pain, we will see you as soon as possible, usually the same day. Otherwise, we will be happy to arrange a consultation with Dr. Medellin at your convenience.
