We recommend a dental crown when a tooth is so damaged that a filling is no longer enough to support it. A crown is designed to fit around your tooth like a little helmet to protect it from further damage and allow you to eat and smile confidently again.
At OrthoGrace Dental, we offer several materials for dental crowns:
- All-Metal – Crowns made using metals like gold are very durable and are appropriate for molars that withstand a lot of chewing force. They are also a good choice for people who grind their teeth.
- Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM) – PFM crowns are made with a metal base that is covered with a layer of tooth-colored porcelain. These crowns are also very durable and blend in beautifully with your smile.
- Zirconia – These are the most popular type of crowns we offer because they provide so many advantages. Crowns made of zirconia not only withstand a lot of wear and tear, but they also have a translucent appearance that looks similar to natural teeth.
If you have a damaged tooth and think you may need a crown, please call our Northridge dental office. We will be happy to arrange an appointment with Dr. Medellin so he can evaluate your needs and make a recommendation that is most appropriate for you.
