You want to present yourself to others in the best possible way, and a beautiful, healthy smile can help create a positive first impression. But if you feel self-conscious because you are bothered by crooked or crowded teeth, you may not feel much like sharing your smile.

At OrthoGrace Dental, we are pleased to offer orthodontic options for family members of all ages that comfortably and efficiently help you achieve a straighter smile. After dental school, Dr. Joe Medellin studied orthodontics for an additional three years, so you can trust that he has the skill and experience to deliver the healthy, beautiful results you desire

Straight Teeth for a Healthy Smile

Patients seeking orthodontic treatment are usually focused on the appearance of their teeth. But the benefits of orthodontics go far beyond the esthetic.

When your teeth aren’t aligned properly, extra pressure is placed on the rest of your teeth. This leads to problems with excessive tooth wear, teeth grinding, and even TMJ pain. Also, crowded teeth are difficult to clean properly, which can lead to decay and gum disease.

Customized Orthodontic Treatment

Every member of your family has unique treatment needs. But whether you are an adult who would like to tweak your smile or a teen who requires full orthodontic treatment, we have the solution for you!

In addition to his advanced training, Dr. Medelllin is committed to staying current with the latest technology and techniques, so you know you are getting the highest standard of care possible.

In general, orthodontics can be used to address:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Rotated teeth

Orthodontic Options

We are pleased to offer a variety of treatment options that we can customize just for you:

  • Invisalign – Many adult patients prefer Invisalign because the clear aligners are discreet and comfortable to wear. Invisalign uses sets of clear plastic aligners that gently nudge your teeth into the proper position. You need to wear the aligners for at least 22 hours per day, but they are removable for eating and oral hygiene so you can continue to enjoy all your favorite foods. Treatment times are usually about a year for adults and 18 to 24 months for teens.
  • Lingual Braces Lingual means relating to or near the “tongue side.” Lingual braces look and work like traditional bracket-and-wire orthodontics, but they are mounted on the back side of your teeth, so they are hidden from view. We often recommend lingual braces for patients who want discreet treatment but can't achieve the desired results with Invisalign.
  • Silver Braces – Today, silver braces consist of stainless steel brackets, wires, and elastic bands to straighten your teeth. For kids, we can customize the color and shape of the brackets and offer bands in a variety of colors that make treatment more fun.
  • Ceramic Braces - You are probably familiar with traditional braces, but you may not know that today we can achieve desired results using clear ceramic brackets and tooth-colored wires that blend with your smile. Ceramic is a strong material that is usually clear or enamel colored, making them a good choice if you want discreet treatment.

Treatment times for all the bracket-and-wire options can take anywhere from a year to 36 months, with 24 months being the average.
